Walderslade Sixth Form
The brief was clear in its intent. This needed to be a modern, vibrant space with a strong identity, somewhere sixth formers could feel a sense of ownership and independence, whether they were studying, socialising, or simply taking a break. Key requirements included a large common room, study room, games room, ICT suite, and staff office.
The design concept set the Centre apart from the wider school, deliberately so. A mature, contemporary aesthetic was established through bold colour blocking and strong graphic signage, creating a space that feels purposeful and grown-up, while keeping navigation intuitive.
The existing classrooms were fully stripped out, asbestos was safely removed by licensed contractors, and internal walls were removed to create a bright, open common room. New LED lighting, power, and data points were installed for maximum flexibility. Bespoke joinery, durable finishes, and carefully chosen furniture completed the transformation.
