It started with a chance encounter at a bar, where a Universal Music marketing rep challenged me to create visuals for their "British Soul Nation" album concept. Never one to back down from a challenge, I decided to make a statement. Photographing a "funky soul sister," and placing her against a 3D-modeled Union Jack would be attention-grabbing and reflect the political discourse of the time. This concept resonated strongly with soul music lovers and the burgeoning British music artists.
